An introduction to some of my Art and concepts ⋆⭒˚.⋆
My artwork exists in the idea and state of comfort, seen through the lens of a daydream.I base a lot of my inspiration from my own experience and welcome a normality that i portray through my studio practice and making. This euphoric state of comfort and dreamlike atmosphere is broad and can be found before, during or in the aftermath of a daydream. I don’t find myself intimidated by this comfort nor do i restrict myself to a narrowed idea of that. I welcome many different approaches and perspectives. This unpredictability is realistic to me and something i aim to exist in.This complexity in the roles within the painting performs interesting relations to one another giving the painting personality. The texture of the sand paper conveying an attitude to the surface of the canvas not only manipulates tone, but navigates the idea of transparency within the visual aspect of my painting, revisiting that nostalgic feel. I was heavily involved in my research for this, as the personal aspect of my making drove me to become more conscious of my own experiences. Artists like Kiki Smith, and Vivian Maier had huge influence in my practice and the awareness in attention to detail. This concept in a way, became an ornament to gentle reminders of my own experience, personality, and objectives within my practice.
